As most of you are aware, Jason Kenney announced new restrictions that will take effect on Monday September 20th. The stark reality of the announcement is that businesses have been given a challenging ultimatum. Effective September 20th, businesses like Straight Shooters Indoor Range must follow the Restrictions Exemption Program, or follow significant occupancy capacity and operating restrictions as outlined by the Alberta Government.
Straight Shooters Indoor Range will abide by the Restrictions Exemption Program which will require all members/customers to provide one of the following:
proof of vaccination
partial vaccination (one dose) accepted September 20- October 25 if received 2 weeks before time of service
full vaccination (two doses) required after October 25
proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service (tests from AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories not allowed)
documentation of a medical exemption
The requirements listed above do not apply to:
children under 12
We want to emphasize that by choosing this option, we are able to keep our facility open to serve the majority of the firearm's community, and keep our staff working. This decision was not made lightly as we understand that a portion of our members/ customers may hold different views on these government regulations. We deeply considered opting out of participating in the Restrictions Exemptions Program and adhering to limited occupancy / restrictions as outlined by the Alberta Government. Although we have abided by all the restrictions for the past 18 months, we are noticing a trend of harshening restrictions. We believe that if we were to partake in the restrictive option, the government will continue to introduce more restrictions until we can barely operate, or mandate a closure. This message is not intended to derive sympathy, however, to hopefully resonate with our membership. If we want to continue to serve our community for years to come and employ a wonderful group of staff, we believe the Restrictions Exemption Program aligns with our goal of longevity.
Please note that while we respect different views on these regulations, we will absolutely not tolerate any sort of harassment towards our staff or management. We understand that not everyone will be able or willing to partake in the Restrictions Exemption Program, which is why we will honour any requested membership holds effective September 20th. If you are a annual (shooting) or monthly member, we will freeze your membership upon request until the Restriction Exception Program is lifted or until we receive notification to remove the freeze.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Restriction Exemption Program, please refer them to Alberta Health Services. If you have any questions regarding our implementation of the Restriction Exemption Program, please refer them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your understanding. These are challenging times with no perfect solutions. If you decide to visit our facilities, please don't forget to meet our staff with patience and understanding.
